Why is God so different in the Old Testament than He is in the New Testament?

The God of the Old Testament is a God of wrath while the God of the New Testament is a God of love. The fact that the Bible is God’s progressive revelation of Himself to us through historical events and through His relationship with people throughout history might contribute to misconceptions about what God is like in the Old Testament as compared to the New Testament. However, when one reads both the Old and the New Testaments, it becomes evident that God is not different from one testament to another and that God’s wrath and His love are revealed in both testaments.

The difference between testaments is noticeably different but we always have to remember that God's message, and the message of the bible, is ultimately and always about love. God sometimes probably feels disappointed by humans but he knows we are only human and always is forgiving and loving. You also should remember that the bible was written a long time ago and for a different people but the message is always the same, which is of love. One of the major themes of the bible is that God loves us and always will. Also, just because there is suffering in the world it does not mean that God doesn't love us, ultimately it is still a mystery why there is suffering in the world.
